I’m 40 years old and I’d never heard of the Thumper Massager until November of 2009 and I’m here to tell you, that was a happy day.

Thumper is the name brand of a heavy duty percussive massage machine that is produced and marketed by the Thumper Company  in Ontario, Canada.

There is a bunch of places you can go to get the specifics on how this massager works and get some informative articles full of medical jargon but I am a simple man so I will just use one big word… percussive massage.

Percussive massage is all I need to know about the Thumper massager because that is really all this massager does and that is really all I want on my back.

Thumper Massagers Are Incredible!

While Thumper is not a household name for massagers it is a household name for just about any chiropractor that you might visit.

And like me you might be very impressed with the unbelievable massage relief your chiropractors industrial massger gives you.

But please don’t make the same mistake I made and think that this piece of equipment is out of reach just because it is being used at a medical professionals office.

This is what I thought a few years ago when asked what kind of machine they were using on me.

It was not an industry secret because the girl said it was a Thumper Maxi Pro.

I looked it up online shortly after and was expecting a hefty price tag or at least a huge difference between the “use at home” model and the commercial model that my chiropractor was using.

There were a few different types of Thumpers available and the Maxi Pro was available from quite a few different places; Amazon, Sears, Wal-mart, etc… but there were only two heavy duty ones to choose from, the Maxi Pro and the Equine, and they were both about $300.

If you said Wow! to that price don’t feel like you are alone because that is exactly what I said, but I also said wow because I was really expecting around a $1500 price tag for the machine they ued on me at the chiropractor.

I don’t think I would have bought one if it HAD been $1500 but I did buy the $300 model and I have not regretted a penny of it.

I was thinking about trying the less expensive Mini Pro 2 or the Thumper Sport but I really wanted the exact same thing they used on me at the chiropractor office, and that is what I got.

I paid a little more because I got the carrying case and I think I will look into the deal that holds it upside down so I can use it on my feet.

I looked at a lot of Thumper massager reviews and had a hard time find many bad reviews about any of the thumper models.

Quite a few folks who have had theirs for more than a few years have said that if something goes wrong, the folks at the Thumper place will tell you how to fix it (if its something simple like a bolt rattling loose) and they have parts available if it is not so simple.

This is AFTER the one year warranty has expired.

All of the reviews have said that a REAL person stayed on the phone with them and talked them through the repair.

The ad says it’s conveniently priced but I still think it’s pretty expensive for a hand held massager no matter how portable it is.

I’m fairly tight with my money but ten minutes into the first run with this little sweetheart and I stopped being so critical of the price.

This next bit is straight from the website (so I put it in quotes) and the reason I left it word for word is because they did such a great job of saying how great it is for lazy people (I still laugh when I read it).

“This percussion massager was developed for active individuals who need to relax their muscles after exercise and for those who don’t get enough exercise and need to improve their circulation.”

Isn’t that perfect? (and need to improve their circulation)…

A Fix It Guys Dream

These things are a fix-it guys dream, they got a heavy duty DC motor and dynamically balanced drive (which is like saying they are built like a Chevy or a GMC*) that deliver solid and reliable performance.

*for those who need clarification, you can raise the hood on a Chevy or a GMC and still fix some things yourself, not so much with the foreign jobs.

It sounds like a lot of bio science went into the Thumper also, a variable speed control from 20 to 40 hertz will match my muscles’ natural healing frequency (I was not aware that my muscles had a healing frequency).
